Starground is a premium action game for PC from developer Big Boy Games. It is a unique adventure that combines roguelike dungeon-crawling gameplay with strategic automation mechanics. In it, players are tasked with establishing a complex automated base while exploring the dangerous areas on an unexplored planet. 

Similar to other automation games like Factory or Oddsparks: An Automation Adventure, Starground takes a more casual approach with its charming pixel graphics while still providing the depth and complexity that fans expect. New players can try this demo out before the game's official release on August 20, 2024. 

Dungeoning and automation 

Starground is a sci-fi-themed strategy adventure game taking place on an unknown and uncharted planet in space. Its gameplay is divided into two core parts with the first being a base-building experience. You're tasked with establishing an industrial automated system to handle resource collection, processing, and other logistical hurdles to let you unlock more machines and expand your territorial plant further. 

Of course, your machines will take time to process things, and this is where the dungeoning aspect of Starground comes into play. Explore other planets within the solar system, and delve into dungeon-like areas. Face unknown dangers, solve puzzles, and collect unique loot to take home with you. The game also features a weapon crafting system that lets you create all kinds of weapons for future runs. 

In addition to single-player gameplay, the game also supports online multiplayer co-op that surprisingly lets you play with as many friends as you want. Now, as of this writing, it's not out yet and there are still a couple of weeks left before its release date. You will have to wait for a bit longer to get the full experience. 

Nice combination 

To sum up, Starground combines base-building automation with dungeon crawling to surprisingly great results. It seamlessly blends the more strategic gameplay of the former with the engaging action-filled experience of the latter. The wait won't be long so if you liked the demo, keep this on your radar and dive right in come launch day.
